Color Studies
The goal of the color studies assignment was to use the paintbrush tool in Photoshop to create appealing color harmonies using monochromatic, complementary, split complementary, and tetrad color schemes on a single image. For this project I used an image of a dung beetle, and explored a variety of brushes and art styles.
For the monochromatic image the goal was to lay out the basic shapes for the following images and to experiment with the various brushes in Photoshop.
The complementary image was designed to look more like something from a cartoon.
The split complementary image was made using water color brushes. It is also where I began to experiment with shading for the first time.
The tetrad image was the final drawing where I tried to combine all of the skills I had learned in Photoshop. I also added highlights to help make the shell pop.
